The Hieroglyphic language is
one of the oldest languages on earth๐. The Hieroglyphic letters
are symbols like birds, hands, legs...etc. A lot of writings were found on the
temple walls of Ancient Egyptians๐ช๐ฌย as well as pots,
coffins, and artifacts. ๐ต๐โ๐ฒ๐งฉโณ
Do you know that:
- Hieroglyphs are written in rows or columns and can be read from left to right
or from right to left.ย ๐
- You can distinguish the direction in which the text is to be read because the
human or animal figuresย always face towards the beginning of the line. Also, the upper
symbols are read before the lower.ย ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐บ๐ฆ
-The signs or symbols represent a single sound.
Unfortunately, the Egyptians๐ช๐ฌย took most vowels for
granted and did not represent such as โeโ or โvโ. So, we may never know how the
words were formed. ๐
- Syllabic signs represent a combination of two or
three consonants. ๐ฅบ
- Word-signs are pictures of objects used as the
words for those objects. They are followed by an upright stroke, to indicate
that the word is complete in one sign. ๐
